Dear shipmates, we’re sorry but in view of this horrid virus we’re postponing our Scottish Flotilla.
The Visually Impaired Sailing Association regrets to announce that the forthcoming Scottish Island Odyssey is postponed.
We have all been shocked at the spread of the Corona virus and the effect it is having world wide.
The board of trustees of Visa-gb, in conjunction with Flamingo yachts, have made the decision that it would inappropriate and unsafe for us to gather in Largs for this years Scottish Island Flotilla which was due to start on the 18th April 2020.
It is our plan to hold the flotilla later in the year once we have the all clear from the government and the trustees are confident that no participant will be put at risk from this virus.
Flamingo Yacht charter has offered us alternative dates in late September or early October as well as the option of postponing to Spring 2021.
We are not in a position to make a decision on new dates yet but will keep you updated as we want the group that has booked to be able to attend, please bear with us as discussions continue.
We are sure you will be both disappointed and also relieved by this news, we feel sure it will also raise some questions such as the following:
If I can’t make the new date will I get my money back? Answer is yes, but please give us time to publicise the new dates first as we want you to be able to join the trip.
What happens about my travel cost? It’s a good question and the honest answer is we don’t know other than what’s in the press about airlines and rail companies offering refunds or rearranging date, contact your travel provider on this.
We will be in touch with you in the next 10 days with updates, so keep your mail box open! We’ll also send newsletters and update the website and our Facebook page.
On behalf of the all the Trustees of Visa-gb we would like to wish you, your family and friends the very best wishes during this difficult time. You are part of the Visually Impaired Sailing Association so please keep in touch with us and each other as support, encouragement, advice, and information of your experiences will help us all get through this. All the best
